In just one calendar year, the apparel and footwear industries account for an estimated 8% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions. That’s nearly 4 metric gigatons of carbon dioxide emitted into the atmosphere each year. In the face of various environmental, social, and governmental challenges, the Run Specialty industry, and its respective retailers, must adopt new strategies in an effort to reduce our carbon footprint and extend the life of our planet.

To do our part, Palmetto Running Company launched The PRC Eco-Initiative in 2019. It is our collective goal to purchase and sell more sustainable, bio-based, recycled, and eco-friendly products as well as find new ways to improve the sustainability of our business practices and, more directly, our local environment. We have broken that down into 3 goals: Being conscious and intentional with our product assortment, providing responsible end-of-life opportunities for product and shipping waste including product recycling centers, and participating in the cleanup of our local environment.

PRODUCT RECYCLING

Here at PRC we are happy to provide a full service product recycling center at each of our stores. Bring in your old active apparel, socks, and shoes and we’ll work with organizations to turn your old gear into something new!
