Where to Run in the Lowcountry

From Spanish moss-draped oak trees to miles of shoreline and scenic marsh views, the Lowcountry offers some of the most beautiful running routes in the Southeast. Here are our favorite places to run around Bluffton, Hilton Head, and Beaufort.

Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge

If you're looking for a true Lowcountry experience, Pinckney Island is hard to beat. With over 14 miles of trails winding through maritime forests, open fields, and marshland, this refuge offers endless opportunities for exploration. Keep an eye out for egrets, deer, alligators, and some of the most beautiful oak trees you'll find anywhere.

Located in Beaufort and Port Royal, the Spanish Moss Trail is a paved greenway built on a former railroad line. The trail stretches approximately 10 miles and features stunning marsh views, historic landmarks, and plenty of Spanish moss-covered canopies.
